St Ninian’s is a very unique and historic Whitby building in its own right, so making it an interesting place for people to visit in order to experience another aspect of Whitby is one obvious use.
However, it has always been a place of worship, and many people have visited in the past specifically to take in the surroundings and the peace offered, so this must continue.
But it is also the time to look to the future and find new uses for the building.
It is hoped that local groups and organisations will use the building. Ideas and applications are welcome, although it may be some time until it can be used to its full potential due to the repairs and adaptations needed.
It is also hoped to put on some events, and ideas for these are also welcome.
- Singing groups could use the building for practicing – there should be lovely acoustics – and concerts could be held.
- Many years ago, a popular event was the “Old Whitby” slide shows – so maybe something in this line could be brought back.
Exhibitions may also be possible – with displays by local artists or photographers, or …... You tell us!
